چکیده

Abstract Background Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) affects as many 100,000 infants each year in China. Therapeutic hypothermia reduces HIE related mortality and long-term neurodevelopmental disabilities. National guidelines for management were published a decade ago. This study aimed to investigate the current status of diagnosis treatment Method prospective cross-sectional national survey used questionnaire evaluating practices management. Descriptive statistics Chi-square or Fisher’s exact test used, p -value < 0.05 was considered significant. Results The 273 hospitals that completed located 31 34 provincial districts Eighty-eight percent Level III hospitals, 74% treated 10 more cases annually. Awareness rates diagnosis, treatment, therapeutic protocol 85, 63, 78%, respectively. Neurological manifestations blood gas diagnostic criteria by 96% (263/273) 68% (186/273) 54% (147/273) hospitals. percentage general implemented (43%, 71/165) significantly lower than maternity infant (67%, 49/73) ( χ 2 = 11.752, 0.001) children’s (77%, 27/35) 13.446, 0.001). Reasons not providing included reduction recent years (39%), high cost cooling devices (31%), lack training (26%), safety concerns (4%). Among provided hypothermia, 27% (39/147) full compliance with recommended protocol. Eighty-one (222/273) putative neuroprotective agents alone combination cooling. Ninety-one had follow-up programs HIE. Conclusions There is significant heterogeneity has become standard care neonatal nationwide. Unproven are widely treatment. Nationwide standardization dissemination represent opportunities reduce improve outcomes children affected

Neonatal Hypoxic-ischemic Encephalopathy: A Radiological Review

Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a devastating condition that may result in death or severe neurologic deficits in children. Neuroimaging with cranial ultrasound (US), computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are valuable tools in the workup of patients with HIE. The pattern of brain injury depends on the severity and duration of hypoxia and degree of brain maturation...
